TLALOC AND ITS PHILOSOPHICAL ASPECT.

Hits:45761

"the ancient is not necessarily primitive"

Tlaloc could not be the "God of water" for the elevated and ancient Anahuac civilization.

Almost the same ideas and descriptions made by Spanish conquistadors, of the Anahuac civilization at the beginning of the 16th century are still prevalent in the 21st century. The texts written by Hernan Cortes or Bernal Diaz del Castillo, neither of whom were historians or researchers and which were written from a very limited and biased perspective, inexplicably remain as reliable "historical" sources.

Both the writings of ignorant people as those of the conquerors, as well as those of fanatical people as the missionaries to date are "irrefutable" evidence of the invaded civilization was like and how the conquest was made.

To analyze the degree of development of the two civilizations and to compare their levels and reaches, let's start from the notion of “time and space”.  For Europeans in 1492, Earth was flat and that the time that earth revolved around the Sun was 365 exact days (Julian calendar).

Unlike the anahuaca perception that the Earth was round, that was integrated into a solar system and that the earth revolved around the center of the Galaxy in 25,625 years and that the time that the earth revolved around the Sun was 365.2520 days.

These data clearly demonstrate the level of development, awareness and perception of the world and the life of the two cultures. The self and being, the here and now. The decolonization of history is more than needed to recognize ourselves in all our full dimension and recover "our own face and our true heart," leaving behind what the invaders "wrote" and what the neo-colonizers “continue to write”.

Each of the six mother civilizations, i.e., the oldest with autonomous origin had a "knowledge pyramid" that explained the world and life, defining their highest purposes, knowledge that was developed over time and through systematized experiences.

At the apex of all of them we find what in the West is called "philosophy". A set of high ideas, with abstract and complex contents that purport to explain the world and life, proposing a purpose or ultimate social purpose as a civilization.

A second lower level is the religious view of this first abstract conception. A series of stories and dogmas which explain easily to a larger number of people, the "abstract truths of philosophical thought" and help direct people in the same direction of the shared ancestral social purpose.

In a third level is world and life vision, based in general of the social pyramid. For our civilization the "macehuales" or those deserving the sacrifice of the creation gods. This vision is directed by philosophical thought, but explained via religion through myths, symbols, rituals, traditions, festivals, uses and customs.

Another element to consider in order to "decode" the information that today is available of the ancestral Anahuac wisdom, is that throughout more than three thousand years, the three levels of knowledge suffered sensitive changes and modifications in time and the space. Especially in the last 81 years of relative power that the Aztec Empire had in the Central Highlands and part of the coast of the Gulf of Mexico.

Indeed, the perception of Tlaloc was not the same in the Central Highlands in the classic splendor period by the Toltecs, as it was in the decadent postclassic by the Mexicas. The same can apply to the Catholic religion. It is not the same perception of the Holy Spirit as it was in the sixteenth century, to what it currently has.

One of the distortions created, promoted and maintained by cultural colonization, is to think that the Mexica are the maximum or pinnacle of the Anahuac civilization and that furthermore, that were defeated by a handful of "brave Spaniards" thanks to their cultural superiority, religion and weaponry. Totally fake and fraudulent.

We anahuacas have much have to re-discover, re-interpret and re-think of the 21st century about our mother culture, to put an final end to the mental and cultural colonization that we have undergone these nearly five centuries and that have condemned us to the most aberrant ignorance, that of being "ignorant foreigners in our own land".

Tlaloc couldn’t be the "God of water" for the high and ancient civilization of the Anahuac. To begin we must think that a civilization that had "invented corn", the use of the mathematical zero and that knew the celestial mechanics, for which needed a sophisticated system of observation and systematization of knowledge, in which are involved hundreds of pyramids built over thousands of years, could not be "worshiper of the water".

A civilization that perceived the world and life through energy charges, that discovered that being human, not only consisted of energy, but that produced a very sophisticated energy through his consciousness of being, couldn't be -in essence- “water worshipers". Although water is vital, not only for human life, but for life in the world. The water is only a symbol, just as the "dove" is only a symbol for the Catholic religion.

Our mother civilization managed the perception of the world and life in general, from the idea that the unit was composed by the balance of the complementing opposites, i.e. "divine duality", Ometeotl. From this divine duality detaches the pair of complementing opposites (or children). Red Tezcatlipoca (Xipe-Tótec), White Tezcatlipoca (Quetzalcoatl), Blue Tezcatlipoca (Tlaloc), and Black Tezcatlipoca. That also represent the four directions of the existence in the Tlaltipac or land surface.

At the same time, on the plane of human existence are symbolically the Quetzal (spirit-above) and Coatl (matter-down); and tonal (right side, reason) and nahual (left side, intuition), pair of complementing opposites used to build the world we perceive in the four directions and the center or navel representing the balance.

But there is another divine duality, Tlaloc and Quetzalcoatl in the religious level, where the first represents luminous energy, as we have already said, i.e. the world consisting of energy charges or atomic world and the second consisting of the spiritual energy, the "purest" energy in the universe which is produced by living beings’ consciousness development, but especially by human beings.

Thus, Tlaloc -represented with water-, is a symbol of the "material" world. In fact, "matter" consists of molecules, atoms, neutrons, protons, etc., i.e. of energy. And where there is water, luminous energy becomes vegetal energy through photosynthesis and life emerges. Hence when the ancient Toltec grandparents refer to Tlaloc, on a philosophical level it represents the energy that comprises "matter".

In a religious sense, it is one of the complementing opposites that constitutes the world as the blue Tezcatlipoca, son of the divine duality. In this way, human beings consist of matter (Tlaloc-blue Tezcatlipoca) and spirit (Quetzalcoatl-white Tezcatlipoca), in this case as Ehécatl Quetzalcoatl, which symbolically is "the divine breath that gives consciousness to matter". Therefore, Ehécatl Quetzalcóatl is not the "God of wind".

Fanatical and prejudiced missionaries, were never able to understand that the anahuacas had no gods and much less were polytheistic. Their religion was much older than what the Spanish brought. Besides, it also had an autonomous origin generated by their own culture, in contrast to the Catholic that had been imposed in the Iberian Peninsula by the Romans at the end of their empire and throughout the middle ages suffered many distortions and misrepresentations.

Harmful and malicious writings of missionaries, first of all, were aimed at knowing the religion of the invaded (from their closed medieval perspective) to disseminate it among the missionaries to be able to destroy it efficiently, the very Sahagún affirms this in the preface of his famous work, General history of things in the New Spain. And secondly these texts were not inspired by respect and recognition of the invaded-defeated. On the contrary, they condemned a priori any value of the civilization of the peoples of the Anahuac, saturating it with negative adjectives.

The ancient anahuaca grandparents had a single religious philosophical matrix common to all cultures of the Cem Anahuac, from Nicaragua to the North of the United States. I.e., they were the same fundamental precepts, but were changing its shape, but not the precepts, according to the culture that developed them. The precepts were based in the Toltecáyotl.

For the case of Tlaloc in the civilization of the Anahuac, all philosophical –religious demonstrations started from the same matrix, but changed name and iconography to the language of each culture, but kept elements common to all. In the case of Tlaloc, all representations, regardless of culture, had a sort of goggles and a snake tongue.

For nahua culture it was Tlaloc, for Maya culture Chac, for the Zapotec culture was Cosijo and for the Totonac culture was Tajin. All different manifestations in iconography and language, but philosophically and religiously all meant the same thing, as well as having in common the goggles and snake tongue. Unity in diversity, cultural plurality in flesh and bone.

In this way, we must conclude that the symbolic figure of Tlaloc, has a philosophical genesis and of several religious manifestations. Every culture, from the Olmecs in the Preclassical period (1500 BC), through the Toltecs of the classic period (200 ad), to the very decadent Mexica of the Postclassic period (1519), maintained the same philosophical- religious matrix, but with variants form the different languages, Iconographies, myths, rites, of each culture in different time and space.

Understanding the anahuaca human being immersed in an internal struggle, in a "Flowered battle". Perceived as a duality seeking balance between luminous and spiritual energy, between the universe and Earth, between the concrete world based on reason and the abstract world based on intuition, provide another perspective and another dimension completely different to those described in "historical sources", global multimedia and Mel Gibson and his Apocalypto hodgepodge in our days.

It gives us back the legitimate pride of being children of the children of one of the six oldest civilizations and which attained the highest degree of development for all his people. It forces us to dream, imagine, design and build a world with the principles and values that guided the glory period that lasted more than a thousand years (200 BC to 850 AD). Invites us to investigate what was the highest and ancient social purpose of our noble and wise ancestors, to make it current and implement it in the world we live today.

It ought to be clear for every conscious person, that it is necessary to rethink the path we have followed these five centuries. The failure of the colonial and neo-colonial society is more than evident. The future lies in the knowledge and full revaluation of our past.
